Your shape is Bell
Ding ding ding! π If you have full hips and a defined waist, this is you! Youβll have fun playing with different necklines, embellished and detailed tops, and anything that highlights your waist AND those curves.
YOUR GOAL
Focus on creating balance by drawing the eye upward and showing off your waist.
Your Quick Hit Fit List
Before we look at your go-to (and not-so-go-to) pieces, can I set the record straight once and for all?
I donβt want your clothes to βflatterβ you π ββοΈ I want them to *fit* you
πFit β flatter (aka βDo I look good in this?)
πFit = function (aka βIs this garment doing its job?β)
Wearing clothes that donβt fit well (i.e. they arenβt doing their job) is something way too many women settle for. They chalk it up to clothes not flattering them rather than clothes not doing their job.
Thatβs why the following recommendations are split into go-toβs vs. fits that likely wonβt work hard enough for you.
This is not a βwear this not thatβ list.
This is your permission slip to only wear clothes that work hard enough for you.
Your go-to pieces
-
No-fuss pencil and slip skirts that hug the hips and highlight your waist
-
Lots of pants will look amazing on you for varying reasons: Slim or tapered highlight your curves; straight or wide-leg create one fluid line from hips to floor
-
Visually interesting tops (think texture, pattern or shine); look for fun necklines that draw the eye upward like boat, V, scoop, sweetheart, square + strapless
-
Bomber, denim, and moto-style jackets and slouchy cardigans that hit high on the hip
Fits that donβt work hard enough
-
A lot of pleating, whiskering or distressing around the hips
-
Longer tops might sit on top of and overemphasize your hips; tuck these in or just avoid if it feels too fussy
-
Overly flowy or tiered maxi skirts are dresses can throw off your proportions; Fit-and-flare style dresses that hug the torso and flare away from the hips (instead, our goal is to hug the hips and add volume to your top half)
